Putting it together

Bit by bit, putting it together
Piece by piece, only way to make a work of art
Every moment makes a contribution
Every little detail plays a parts
Having just a vision's no solution
Everything depends on execution
Putting it together, that's what counts!

Stephen Sondheim... Putting it Together from Sunday in the Park with George.

This class takes its title from Stephen Sondeims homage to the creative process. Music Theatre is all about putting things together; vocal technique with acting technique, harmonies, medleys, light and shade, individual and group. The work in this class draws from the more 3 dimentional numbers found in music theatre. Ensemble songs tend to be sung by distinct characters, rather than a choir of voices. The material requires a sensitivity to how the individual components retain integrity whilst still contributing to the whole. The class works towards establishing a repetoire of performance standard pieces to be performed at public events.

The class is open to strong singers school year 9 and upwards, and meets on a monday evening at 7.30pm until 8.30pm.
