Kelvin Thomson
Kelvin is a Freelance Musical Director, Composer and Pianist.
He studied at the Johannesburg School for Art, Ballet and Music
before moving onto the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg,
South Africa to study Music. Kelvin has also studied conducting
with George Hurst.
More recently he has developed a new contemporary ballet called
"Dreamdance" as well as composing the music for "Music
for Silent Movies" at the Hackney Empire. Last year Kelvin
was the Assistant Musical Director in the West End show "Hard
Times".

As well as working on 'Hard Times' at the Theatre Royal, Kelvin
has also worked on the UK tour of Gary Wilmotts' 'Showstoppers',
the 'Hollywood & Broadway' tour with Wayne Sleep and Lorna
Luft, 'Joseph & his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat', 'Chess',
'Groucho' and 'Jessica Martin'.
He has made appearances with the London Concert Orchestra,
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Pop Orchestra as well as
with Carl Davies, Michael Crawford, Elaine Paige and Sarah Brightman.
He was a part of the world premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Requiem
Variations'. He has worked with disco artists including 'KC and
the Sunshine Band', 'Sister Sledge' and 'Odyssey' and motown artists
such as 'The Supremes' and 'The Three Degrees'.
Kelvin has been pianist/keyboard in West End shows such as 'The
Lion King', 'Saturday Night Fever', 'Children of Eden', 'Copacabana',
'Les Miserables', 'Grease', 'Miss Saigon', 'Moby Dick', 'Phantom
of the Opera', 'Me & My Girl' and 'Chess'.
Kelvin's recordings include many cast albums, television
and film and radio sessions, such as This is Your Life, Wogan,
the Olivier Awards and the BAFTA Awards.
Kelvin is a visiting lecturer and External Assessor at
the Guildford School of Acting.
Whilst at the Academy Kelvin will be teaching Singing.
