Jason Rees
Jason has been working as a vocal coach for nearly 20 years. He
trained at the Guildford School of
Acting,
where he studied singing with Paul Farrington. Later he continued
his training at London Actor's Centre.
Jason has been fortunate enough to have worked with some of the professions top musical directors and voice experts, including Mary
Hammond and Gillyanne Kayes.
His production credits include Hamlet at
the Brixton Shaw, Romeo and Juliet at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at Plymouth Theatre Royal, The
Fairie Queen at
the Royal
Opera House, a workshop of a new opera The Ladies Paradise for
the RSC, the title role in a Number 1 UK tour of The Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn. Jason also
created the role of Louie in the UK premiere of Jez Simons' Hard
Times Diner. Concert work includes, Sondheim Tonight at the Barbican Concert
Hall, and guest soloist at a benefit concert
in the West End's Tristan Bates Studio Theatre.
A misspent youth and an insatiable appetite for masterclasses and conventions has seen Jason panting on the floor with RSC's voice consultant Cicely Berry, grilling director Peter Brook in the RNT's Olivier, and reciting love poetry to actor/director Janet Suzman... Jason definitely has a passion for all things voice!
Jason has taught (and still teaches) at many of the industry's leading
drama schools, including Performance Preparation Academy, Italia Conti, Guildford School of Acting and Sylvia Young Theatre School.
