The Susan Roberts Academy launches a professional management agency for young performers.

After their huge success providing professional performing arts training to students - producing talents that include Mis-teeq's Su-Elise and Tayler Hamilton who recently featured alongside Kevin Klien and Robbie Williams, The Susan Roberts Academy of Performing Arts is launching a personal management agency to represent talented young performers in acting, dance and music.

A student from The Susan Roberts Academy of Performing Arts models for H & M

Felicity-Louise D’Cruz, a student from The Susan Roberts Academy of Performing Arts has been chosen to model children’s wear for the clothing brand H & M.

Felicity-Louise, aged 10 from Twickenham, spent 3 days in a historic house in the grounds of Fox Warren Park on a photo and video shoot modelling H&M’s new, Autumn 2004, range of clothing designs.

Dance teacher Sophie Burnham takes part in The Playtex Moonwalk, a moonlit marathon through Hyde Park to raise funds for breast cancer research and cancer care.

Three students from The Susan Roberts Academy are selected by The Surrey County Youth Theatre

Three students from The Susan Roberts Academy of Performing Arts have been chosen by the Surrey County Youth Theatre to take part in this year’s performance – Once Upon a Mattress, a modern adaptation of Hans Andersen’s ‘The Princess and the Pea’.

Natasha Firth (12) from Cobham, Jenny Morgan (15) from Fetcham and Georgina Scott (13) from Guildford all took part in one day workshops auditioning for this years cast which saw 100 young hopefuls try out for a place in what promises to be a hit production.

Bollywood comes to Cobham!

There’s been huge interest in the new terms indian dance classes provided by The Susan Roberts Academy of Performing Arts. The classes commenced last September in response to increasing demand since the likes of Bombay Dreams have put Indian Dance in the spotlight.

The classes are taught by Bollywood Dance Teacher, Dancer and Choreographer, Ketan Nagar who starred in last year’s Bombay Dreams summer tour.

The Susan Roberts Academy raises £2000 in aid of Milly’s Fund

Students from The Susan Roberts Academy of Performing Arts put on a glittering show to an audience at The Leatherhead Theatre that included Bob Dowler, The Deputy Mayor Martin Schofield and Ian Taylor, MBE and MP.

All proceeds of the show, amounting to £2000 were given to ‘Milly’s Fund’, the charity set up by Bob and Sally Dowler after the terrible loss of their daughter last year.

Well done, Somer!
Somer Adams has sucessfully auditioned and been accepted for places at Arts Educational, London School of Musical Theatre, Laine Theatre Arts, New York School of Performing Arts, Guildford School of Acting and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Somer will be starring in the National Youth Music Theatre during August, as the dream version of Laurie in their performance of 'Oklahoma', showing at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast and Bath Theatre Royal. Somer will also be performing with the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff in October as part of the International Festival of Musical Theatre.

Freyana De Paoli
Freyana came 2nd in her heat at the National Youth Music Theatre, which she has taken part in for the last 3 years. This summer she will be performing in FastLane's 'The Dreaming', a modern version of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. FastLane is a group of Performers specially picked to perform at the most prestigious venues and high-profile events. Past companies have performed at the House of Lords, Buckingham Palace and in front of Nelson Mandela.

New Office
As of 8th April, The Susan Roberts Academy are delighted to announce that they now have an office in St Andrews School, Cobham. Office hours are 09:00-16:00 Monday-Friday. The new Office number is 01932 590441. Please contact the office for information on classes, school uniform or for any other enquiries.

Star Pupils - Taryn & Josie Kook-Clark & Charlotte Ward
Taryn & Josie were part of the cast of BBC Radio 4's "Woman's Hour" production of "Little House on the Prairie", which was aired in July. It was recorded 'on location' in Bourne Wood in Farnham, Surrey last April. Taryn played Mary and Josie played Laura. The ten episodes took five days to record due and it was a great experience for the girls.

"Little House on the Prairie" led to another BBC Radio producer calling Josie to play five year old Joan in the "Stone Diaries", which was aired in January. Once again a fantastic experience. Josie then went on to record 'Corona' for the BBC Radio 4's "Chiller" series, which aired on February 14th. BBC Radio 4 website (external links open in a new window)

Ex-pupil releases first album
Su-Elise Nash One of the Academy's past students, Su-Elise Nash, has achieved recent success in the highly competitive music industry as a member of the band 'Mis-teeq'. We feature in her personal thanks inside the cover of their new album 'Lickin' on Both Sides'.

Well done to this term's star pupil, Jessica Donnithorne. Jessica has recently been picked to appear on the frontcover of a brand new children's book, 'Party Girls - Michelle's Big Break' by Jennie Walters. (Book published by Hodder Children's Books, 2001). She can also be found as the face for the Marks and Spencer pasta packets!

This year's panto 'Jack and the Beanstalk' that took place at St Andrew's School, Cobham on 8th December, was a great success view article

One of our teachers, Lucy Holloway is currently starring in 'Hollywood and Broadway - The Musicals'.

Charlotte Ward successfully auditioned for a part in Grange Hill and has just got herself a 2 year contract!

Su-Elise Nash in new band
One of our students, Su-Elise Nash is a singer in the pop group 'Misteeq', who have recently had a chart hit.

Former student signs recording deal
Marie Blanch, a former student at The Academy, has recently signed a deal with Diecast Records. As Lead Singer of Lava, Marie and her partner are currently recording some sample tracks before deciding where they want to go next.
